Client: The Vinyl Suns Band
Overview: The Vinyl Suns are a Blues Rock band based in Atlanta, Ga. Their unapologetic love for the old style blues, rock n' roll, vinyl records and funky grooves defines their personality as well as their music ethos. I was commissioned to develop the design and art direction for their overall brand communications, social media voice, and imagery style.
Branding: Their logo and visual identity takes you back to the raw seventies' letterpress style and its quirky venues,— those hidden in back alleys whose walls still smell like cigarettes and where only good music is allowed.
While the logo keeps it simple and bold, the photography is where the energy and the authenticity of their live performances comes in, —using full color imagery, a saturated palette and dynamic shots.
EP Release Campaign: Content Creation and Management
In 2019, they trusted my taste once more to design the cover, merchandise and social media content for the release campaign of their second EP “Up At Night”. The two-month social media campaign was designed to improve the overall quality of their content and create a more interactive relationship with their followers.
Pre-Release Campaign: Release of three singles (one every other week), prior to the EP release.
Ticket giveaway. Users had to share a post in their stories commenting who they would take to the show.
Interaction in stories. We shared videos of ridiculous dance moves, and encouraged people to share their own videos dancing to the single.
Get people to know more about the band. Everyone likes anecdotes, and more if they’re from someone you follow. For the third single release (Innocent Lies), we shared three stories about each of the band members and had followers guess on an Instagram Poll which one was the Innocent Lie. The two winners got a tshirt and a CD of Up At Night.
Post-Release Campaign: Organized an EP release party with two opening bands at Smith’s Olde Bar.
Exclusive merchandise: design and production of CDs, t-shirts, pins, keychains and stickers for the event.
Production of short clips and video promo for the show.
